Mom2Mom
Hearing another mom’s story can make you feel less alone and help you rise to the
challenges of parenting a child with hemophilia. The Mom2Mom program provides a
platform for hemophilia moms to share stories, advice and other information about
raising a child with hemophilia. What’s more, you can get hemophilia moms in your
area together for your own Mom2Mom event. These events can be a great way to meet
and connect with other moms.
A typical Mom2Mom event includes:
- A guest speaker. At each event, one special Mom will discuss her hemophilia
story — from her child’s diagnosis, to challenges faced and overcome, to choosing
treatments.
- Open discussion. The guest speaker’s presentation will give way to an open
discussion for moms to share their own thoughts and experiences, as well as pose
questions.
And Mom2Mom events can take place almost anywhere. For example, you can plan a picnic
in the local park or plan a brunch at your favorite restaurant. You can even choose
an activity, such as cooking instruction or line dancing to get everyone moving
and mingling. The possibilities are endless!

Other Mom2Mom events:
This year, moms have connected through our Mom2Mom program all over the United States.
In Portland, Oregon, moms shared their experiences raising children with hemophilia
while sailing along the Columbia River aboard the Spirit of Portland. During this
event, Hemophilia Mom Rhonda Boni-Burden spoke to these moms and other caregivers
of her own experiences.
At an event in Columbus, Ohio, mothers got creative at "Color Me Mine," a paint-your-own
pottery studio, while also discussing day-to-day life with hemophilia.
Whether a Mom2Mom event takes place at a cooking class, an art studio, or on a dinner
cruise, each program gives moms of kids with bleeding disorders a chance to connect
with other moms in their situation, and to share stories and get advice.
